HAPPY EASTER!

Dear Sisters and Brothers in DIGNITY:

Each year as Christians celebrate the greatest of all feasts, Easter, it is a time appropriately that life is returning to the earth after a long, cold winter. This resurgence of life provides a fitting environment for celebrating the great Feast of Life.

Gardens are a perfect symbol of this new life, and we find them mentioned in Scripture frequently. Τη Genesis, for example, right at the beginning, there is the Garden of Eden. In the New Testament, John (18:1-2) tells us that Jesus suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane. And also in John (19:41-42), we read: "In the place where He had been crucified, there was a garden and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had ever been buried."

These three gardens sum up salvation history: Eden (sin), Gethsemane (redemptive suffering) and the Easter Garden (Resurrection-Salvation). They remind us of how we work out our Christianity: we struggle with the effects of sin (selfishness, egocentricity, the failure to love). We unite our sufferings and all of our lives with Jesus. We rise with Him to a higher spiritual level and thus live out the Paschal Mystery.

Easter is the time when Jesus challenges each of us to CHOOSE LIFE, to live more vibrantly and fully, to give ourselves more generously to others (in DIGNITY and elsewhere), and to use every moment God gives us as joyously as we can.

I pray that your lives are filled with joy and peace this Eastertide and throughout the beautiful season of spring. In DIGNITY,

Fr. Roland Calvert, Chaplain Αλλλλλλλλλλλ λ λ λ λ λ λ λ λ λ λλλλλ

Dear Ann Landers:

For years I have been trying unsuccessfully to cover up the fact that I am a homosexual.

Whenever I'm in a crowd, I become paranoid because I think everyone knows and is whispering about me behind my hack. I dropped out of school and quit two jobs because of this.

I know I need professional help, but I can't afford it. Are there any programs available that cost little or nothing? Please tell me what to do. I don't know where to start.-The Odd One
